Editor's Take:
Sergey Brin's family left the Soviet Union when he was a child, partly to escape antisemitism. At Stanford he and Larry Page found a better way to rank web pages by the links pointing to them. That idea became Google, which changed how the world finds information. Brin led ambitious projects such as Google Glass and self-driving cars. He stepped back from day-to-day work in 2019. He later returned to help with the company's AI efforts.
