Editor's Take:
Mohammed VI took the throne promising a more open Morocco than his father's. He set up a commission to examine abuses of the past. He also reformed family law to give women more rights in marriage and divorce. When Arab Spring protests reached Morocco, he offered a new constitution. That move kept the monarchy firmly in charge. His reign has seen major investment in ports, railways and solar power. Critics point to limits on press freedom and dissent.
