Editor's Take:
Mysterio bridged two wrestling worlds, bringing Mexican lucha libre's aerial artistry to American mainstream audiences. His WCW arrival in 1996 helped establish cruiserweight wrestling as a legitimate draw, proving smaller athletes could headline. The loss and eventual return of his mask became a career-defining narrative arc spanning continents and promotions. His parents crossed the border daily so he could attend American schools, yet he found fame by embodying Mexican wrestling tradition. By 2018, he returned to WWE alongside his son, transforming from prodigy to patriarch. His longevity across four decades reflects both physical resilience and adaptability to changing wrestling landscapes.
