Huldrych Zwingli built a Reformation of his own in Switzerland, separate from Luther. He wanted worship stripped back to scripture, without images, organs or the Mass. When he met Luther at Marburg, the two could not agree on Communion. That split Protestantism for good. He also tied religion closely to politics, which led him to war. His ideas shaped later Reformed churches. Zürich's Grossmünster still honours his memory. His teaching influenced Calvin and the Reformed tradition worldwide.
