Editor's Take:

Henry VI inherited two crowns and lost both. He was a pious and gentle man, poorly suited to the violent politics of his time. England lost almost all its French lands during his reign. His bouts of mental illness left a power vacuum that rival nobles fought to fill. The resulting Wars of the Roses cost him his throne twice. His lasting legacy lies in the colleges he founded.
