Editor's Take:
Sylvester Stallone created his own big break. Struggling for work, he wrote the script for Rocky in just a few days. He refused to sell it unless he could play the lead. The low-budget film about an underdog boxer won the Oscar for Best Picture. It made him a star and launched a long series. He then created the troubled soldier John Rambo in First Blood. In the 1980s he was one of the biggest box-office draws in the world. Decades later, Creed earned him another Oscar nomination for playing Rocky again.
