Editor's Take:
Snoop Dogg's real achievement is staying relevant for more than three decades in a genre that usually moves on quickly. He arrived in the early 1990s as the laid-back voice of West Coast gangsta rap, yet today he is just as likely to appear at the Olympics, on a cooking show or in a family film. That shift did not happen by accident: he has a rare talent for laughing at himself and for spotting the next opportunity. His relaxed delivery, often imitated but never quite copied, remains one of the most recognisable sounds in music. For anyone born on 20 October, he is a birthday match who proves that reinvention can be the secret to lasting fame.
