Editor's Take:
Sigismund of Luxembourg collected crowns across Central Europe. He ruled Hungary for fifty years and later added Germany, Bohemia and Italy. His crusade against the Ottomans ended in disaster at Nicopolis. His greatest success was diplomatic, bringing rival popes to an end at Constance. The same council burned the reformer Jan Hus, which sparked the Hussite Wars. He spent years fighting to claim Bohemia as a result. He was the last emperor of the House of Luxembourg.
