Editor's Take:
Michael Douglas first made his mark as a producer, not an actor. He won Best Picture for a film his famous father had long tried to make. In the 1980s and 1990s he played morally tangled men under pressure. Wall Street, Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct were all hits. He later moved easily into television and Marvel films. He spoke openly about surviving throat cancer. He has stayed a major star for more than five decades.
