Chisholm carved a distinctive path from girl-group phenomenon to credible solo artist. While the Spice Girls dominated mid-nineties pop culture, she emerged with serious vocal credentials that translated into lasting commercial success. Her solo catalogue reached over 130 million sales—a figure that dwarfs most contemporaries. The 2026 chart performance of her ninth album demonstrates rare longevity in pop music. Her transition into musical theatre and founding her own label revealed artistic ambition beyond manufactured pop. Among Spice Girls members, she built the most substantial and sustained solo discography. Her Grammy win legitimised her work within the industry's critical hierarchy.
