Editor's Take:
Jacinda Ardern became one of the most recognised leaders of her generation. She grew up in small towns in New Zealand and worked for Tony Blair's government in London. She became Labour leader just weeks before the 2017 election and won power at 37. In 2018 she became only the second elected leader to give birth in office. After the Christchurch mosque attacks in 2019 she won praise for her compassion and swift gun reforms. Her early Covid strategy kept deaths very low. She resigned in 2023, saying she had no more in the tank.
