Editor's Take:
Liam Neeson spent years as a respected dramatic actor. He was nominated for an Oscar as Oskar Schindler and praised as Michael Collins. Then, in his mid-fifties, Taken made him an unlikely action hero. His calm voice and 'particular set of skills' were copied everywhere. A long run of thrillers followed. He has also shown comic timing, including a role in a Naked Gun reboot. His wife Natasha Richardson died after a skiing accident in 2009.
