Editor's Take:
Frank Lloyd Wright believed buildings should grow naturally out of their surroundings, an idea he called organic architecture. His Prairie houses, with their long, low lines, reflected the flat landscapes of the American Midwest. His masterpiece, Fallingwater, is built directly over a waterfall in Pennsylvania, seeming to float above the stream. Late in life he designed the Guggenheim Museum in New York, with its famous spiral ramp. In 2019 several of his buildings were named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
