At 15 she moved to Buenos Aires to act and became a radio star. She married Colonel Juan Perón, who became president in 1946. She ran a huge charitable foundation and championed workers and the poor. She helped win women the vote in 1947. The rich despised her; the poor adored her. She died of cancer at 33, and the musical Evita made her globally famous.
