Editor's Take:
Antonio Banderas moved from the bold Spanish cinema of the 1980s to Hollywood stardom. He did it while barely speaking English at first. He became a dashing leading man as Zorro. He then reached a new generation as the voice of Puss in Boots. His later reunion with Almodóvar in Pain and Glory showed real depth. It was a quiet, personal performance that earned him an Oscar nomination. He has also invested in theatre in his home city of Málaga.
