Editor's Take:
Alan Walker belongs to the first generation of stars who learned their craft entirely online. As a teenager in Bergen he made tracks on a laptop and shared them freely. Faded, a reworking of an earlier instrumental, became one of the most-streamed dance songs of its time. His masked look, borrowed from gaming and hacker culture, turned him into a recognisable brand. He has built a huge following on YouTube. His melodic electronic music is especially popular in Asia.
