Editor's Take:
Ramakrishna was one of the most influential Hindu mystics of modern times. Born into a poor Brahmin family in rural Bengal, he became a priest at the Kali temple at Dakshineswar, near Calcutta. He experienced intense visions of the goddess. Seeking God by every path, he practised Islam, Christianity and many forms of Hinduism. He concluded that all religions lead to the same truth. His sayings were simple and full of stories. His disciple Swami Vivekananda carried his message to the world.
