Did you know?He was a professional racing driver who successfully competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing second in his class.
Paul Newman had looks that could have made him a simple matinee idol. Instead he chose flawed, restless characters. Many films used his blue eyes and quiet charm, from The Hustler to The Sting. Off screen he was a serious racing driver. He was also a generous man. His food company has given all its profits to charity, now more than half a billion dollars. He also set up camps for seriously ill children. Friends said he cared more about that work than about any award.
