Michel Lotito made a career out of a medical oddity. He ate bicycles, televisions, shopping trolleys and a light aircraft, cut into small pieces and washed down with water. Doctors believed a rare condition called pica made him crave such things. He was a showman rather than a scientist. Still, his strange digestion fascinated doctors and record books. Guinness World Records gave him a brass plaque for eating the aeroplane. He reportedly ate that too. He lived until the age of 57.
