Editor's Take:
Halsey built her early fame on the internet, sharing songs and talking frankly with fans. Badlands, a dark concept album, introduced a moody brand of alternative pop. Closer, her duet with The Chainsmokers, became one of the most-streamed songs of its decade. She has spoken openly about bipolar disorder and endometriosis. Her 2021 album with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross showed a harder, industrial sound. She also writes poetry.
