The East German uprising of 1953 (German: Volksaufstand vom 17. Juni 1953) was an uprising that occurred over the course of two days in German Democratic Republic (GDR) from 16 to 17 June 1953.

The Malayan Emergency, also known as the Anti–British National Liberation War, (1948–1960) was a guerrilla war fought in Malaya between communist pro-independence fighters of the Malayan National Liberation Army (MNLA) and the military forces of the Federation of Malaya and the Commonwealth (British Empire).
